Manganese Phosphate Coating
The very latest investment at Cramlington Precision Forge is for a semi-automatic Manganese Phosphate coating line. Manganese Phosphating is an immersion process that converts the surface of metal into a layer of microscopic Phosphate crystals. The surface retains oil and its primary application is as an undercoat for lubricants or paints. Compared to other phosphate processes, the dark grey/black Manganese Phosphate is generally more corrosion resistant and is popular in the automotive and commercial vehicle industries.
The automated nature of the line, which is closely controlled by a PLC driven cycle, closely controls immersion times to give excellent repeatability from batch to batch.
The flexible nature of the loading process enables us to easily process low batch quantities and the automatic PLC controlled processing enables us to be very competitive with medium/high volume parts too.
The line has been approved by Scania and DAF Trucks, with processing in accordance with AMS 03-114/DEF Stan 03-11, ISO9717 and ISO3892.
