Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Policy

Cramlington Precision Forge Limited (CPFL) is committed to excellence in manufacturing precision-forged gears and components for the truck, bus, and agricultural machinery markets. Our business ethos is built on the principles of responsibility, integrity, and respect. We understand that the success of our operations is intrinsically linked to the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, the satisfaction of our customers, and the sustainability of our impact on the environment.

Our Commitment:
At CPFL, we are dedicated to fostering a safe and healthy working environment. Our goal is to operate in a manner that not only complies with all relevant legislation but also continually seeks to exceed those standards. We are committed to sustainable practices that minimize environmental impacts and reduce health and safety risks. By embedding these principles into our daily operations, we ensure that our business practices are not only compliant but also progressive, setting benchmarks in our industry.

Our Policy:
This policy outlines how we manage Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) risks and opportunities in line with our corporate values. At CPFL, we believe that effective HSE management is everyone’s responsibility. Our approach is proactive, aiming to anticipate and mitigate risks before they become issues. We are all accountable for ensuring our operations are conducted in a manner that protects our employees, the environment, and the broader community.

We commit to:

Providing Expert Guidance: Ensuring that all areas of our operations have access to professional HSE expertise. This support is crucial in assisting our leadership teams with the day-to-day management of HSE responsibilities and ensuring compliance with best practices.

Upholding High Standards: Setting and maintaining rigorous health and safety standards across all our operations. We believe in leading by example, creating a culture where safety is prioritized at every level.

Clear Objectives and Targets: Establishing HSE objectives and targets that are ambitious yet achievable. We implement comprehensive programs designed to meet these targets, regularly reviewing and adjusting them as necessary to drive continuous improvement.

Proactive Risk Management: Conducting regular assessments to identify significant HSE risks and implementing robust control measures to mitigate them. Our focus is on preventing injuries, minimizing work-related ill health, and reducing environmental impacts.

Incident Reporting and Learning: Maintaining effective systems for reporting and investigating accidents, near misses, environmental incidents, and work-related ill health. These systems are designed not only to address incidents but also to learn from them, ensuring that corrective and preventive actions are taken promptly and effectively.

Comprehensive Training and Induction: Providing ongoing training and induction programs to enhance the HSE knowledge and skills of our workforce. We aim to empower every employee with the tools and understanding necessary to perform their roles safely and effectively.

Rigorous Audit Programs: Implementing regular audits to measure our performance and ensure compliance with legislation, internal policies, and industry best practices. Our audit programs are a key component of our commitment to continuous improvement.

Adherence to Management Systems: Operating within a structured Management System that encompasses clear procedures, performance standards, and objectives. This system is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure it remains effective and relevant.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Maintaining open communication with local communities and participating in local authority initiatives. We believe in being a responsible corporate citizen, actively contributing to the well-being of the areas where we operate.

Emergency Preparedness: Developing and regularly testing comprehensive emergency response plans. We ensure that all employees are trained in these procedures, so they are prepared to act swiftly and effectively in the event of an emergency.

Commitment to Communication and Collaboration: Actively engaging with all employees, subcontractors, and other stakeholders on HSE matters. We are committed to transparency and inclusivity, ensuring that everyone understands their role in maintaining a safe and sustainable working environment.

Regular Policy Review: This policy is reviewed annually as part of our Management Review process to ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness. We are committed to continuous improvement, adapting our practices as necessary to meet evolving standards and expectations.

This policy applies to all CPFL employees, including temporary and agency workers, as well as subcontractors and others who work on our behalf. It is supported by detailed codes of practice that specify management responsibilities in relation to key risk areas. The effectiveness of this policy, along with our associated procedures and performance metrics, will be continuously monitored, reviewed, and evaluated in line with our management system. As General Manager, I take ultimate responsibility for this policy, ensuring that all necessary resources are allocated for its successful implementation and ongoing compliance.
